Basic info about Warehouse & Marketing of Warehouse.(based on my personal experience)

Warehouse is basically a huge building for storing various goods with all the facilities that would help its customers like packing, labeling, marketing and in some case it involves transportation. 


Activities involved in warehousing.

Handling of materials ie raw materials, finished & semi finished goods.
Documentation work of in coming and out going stock.
Planning for space management for storing goods in efficient way.
Stock control and stock management.
Supervision of stock.
Hygiene and housekeeping activity.
Safety and 5's etc.


Marketing of Warehouse & Strategy.

warehouse marketing basically involves the actual warehouse and what facilities its has to offer to customers. Marketing of warehouse is done by personally meeting the customers, or calling over phone & SMS, Newspapers and Magazines or by T.V commercials. 

Before you start with marketing you should research well about all the aspects regarding warehouse. You have to see who your competitors in the market are and what price they are offering and other value added services.

Need to find out all details about clients of the competitor and their status.
Need to approach companies and ask them if they need any storage space or not.
If there are clients who are already doing business with you, than always be in touch with them.
Talk to some person who can act as a middle man for getting business for example road transporters, man force providers etc.

While approaching a customers via phone you should always greet and then introduce yourself and should forward your mail id and contact number so he can contact you back.
Should prepare reports weekly and forward it to your clients by doing this you will provide some value added services along with it.
